Sharper brands. Stronger stories. Real impact.
Meet Sylvia
I don't believe in ordinary. I never have.
I'm Sylvia Hurrell-Mensah, founder of Halt The Ordinary, a brand, creative, communications and reputation consultancy for people and organisations who refuse to blend in.
My career has lived at the intersection of brand, story and culture. I spent more than a decade in luxury automotive, shaping campaigns, creative partnerships and communications for a globally recognised brand, working across national campaigns, cultural partnerships, fashion, content and live experiences.
I've worked with global talent, creative partners and cultural platforms, and have been hands-on in the creative world of London Fashion Week. Proof that I don't just direct the story from a boardroom. I've built it under pressure, hands-on.
I went on to lead brand and communications globally at Awin, working across markets on brand, leadership communications, reputation, change and major events, including bringing teams across North and South America together for a major global event.
Before the campaigns and corporate communications, I cut my teeth in journalism and purpose-led communications, including advocacy and media work for World Vision, telling stories where the stakes were real people's lives, not quarterly reach.
That training never left me. The instinct to find the real story. To question what's easy. To challenge the polished cliché.
It's the same instinct I bring to every client: strip away the noise, find the truth in the brand, and build something people can't ignore.
That's what I bring to Halt The Ordinary. Brand, creative, communications and storytelling, backed by 15+ years of experience and a willingness to get close enough to the work to make it happen.
Because most brand work plays it safe.
Mine doesn't.
